The historic Lądek Zdrój railway station

This 3D model presents the restored building of the former railway station in Lądek-Zdrój – a unique site with over a century of history, which today serves a completely new purpose.

The station was inaugurated on November 14, 1897, as part of the railway line connecting Kłodzko with Stronie Śląskie. It played a crucial role in the development of spa tourism and transportation in the region. In 1912, the building was expanded and received its distinctive Neo-Gothic look, built from red brick. After World War II, the German name “Bad Landeck” was replaced by the Polish “Lądek-Zdrój.”

Unfortunately, over time and due to the decline of railway interest in the region, the station lost its passenger function. The last passenger train departed from here in March 2004. Since then, the building had been deteriorating, although there were attempts to restore rail service.

In 2016, a decision was made to revitalize the station. Thanks to European Union funds and the involvement of local authorities, the building underwent a thorough renovation completed in 2019. The former station was given new life as a Business Incubator – a modern space for local enterprises, community initiatives, and cultural events. The beautiful, historic platform canopy was also restored, bringing back the site’s former charm.

Although trains no longer stop here, the restored station now fulfills both aesthetic and social functions. It is a great example of successfully combining heritage preservation with a modern approach to local community development.
